Downtown Streets Team San Francisco (DST) and our Tenderloin Technology Lab (TTL) are officially partnering in order to create more available computer classes at your convenience! If you don’t already know, DST consists of San Francisco locals, “who are volunteering to clean up our San Francisco community, as they collaborate with Staff to find employment, housing and an end to homelessness as the status quo“. If you’ve walked by DST Team Members cleaning our neighborhood streets, please remember to stop to say hello and thank you!
Additionally, our Tenderloin Technology Lab provides FREE computer classes every single month. Whether you are looking to find employment, wanting to learn how to connect or reconnect with family or friends, or how to find other free resources within our city – we teach it all. DST and our TTL are partnering up so we can ensure our computer classes do not conflict with your DST volunteering schedule.
With that being said, what is the DST/TTL Computer Course schedule and what will it consist of?
Well, this partnership will begin on Friday, Feb. 8th from 10:00-11:30 AM in our Tenderloin Tech Lab Classroom. This course will take place the first four Fridays of each month. The computer topics covered will include: Computer Basics & Windows Navigation, Intro to Microsoft Word, Internet Use and Safety, and Email. At the end of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion, along with some other digital goodies!
If you are already a DST Team Member and are interested in signing up for this opportunity, please contact the DST Employment Specialist, Genevieve, at Genevieve@streetsteam.org or give her a call at (628) 600-8498. If you are interested in joining DST Market Team, please go to their Weekly Success Meeting that is every Tuesday at 12:30 PM at 65 9th Street (SF Friends Quaker Meeting House)! You can join the Waitlist if you are not currently a Team Member, and get some free lunch after the meeting. If you would like to join the DST Mission Team, their meetings are every Wednesday at 12:30PM at 1661 15th Street (St John’s Cathedral near 16th Bart station).
You can also stop by our Tenderloin Tech Lab at 150 Golden Gate Ave. on the 3rd Floor if you’d like to learn more.
