WORKSHOP: TWITTER

This one-session workshop is designed for students interested in Twitter, an online networking tool that allows you to stay up to date on news and pop culture. Students will learn how to set up a basic personal profile, become familiar with the Twitter interface, write their first tweet, and begin searching for interests.

 

Prerequisite: Please have basic computer skills before signing up for this course.

 

Class Outline:

  1. Introduction to Twitter: What is it? What is it used for?

  2. Setting up a Twitter account: See handout for instructions

  3. Redesigning your Twitter page: Settings, profile picture, background image, design colors

  4. Tweeting: have the students tweet their first tweet (Hash-tags, 140 characters, replying to messages)

  5. Home Page: step through the different elements, menu bars, how to navigate 

  6. Profile Page: step through the different elements, menu bars, how to navigate

  7. Getting followers: finding friends, interests
